The Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED), is any Light Emitting Diode (LED) whose emissive electroluminescent layer is a film composed of Organic Compounds. These screens can be used in televisions, computer displays, small portable screens (IE: cell phones and PDA's), advertising, information and indication. These displays do not require a backlight like traditional Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD's), therefore they require much less power to run and can run longer on a battery charge (IE: laptop batteries). Another advantage compared to an LCD is that since there is no need for a backlight, the monitor can be much thinner.
